DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) – The sentencing phase in a capital murder trial gets underway Monday.
Anthony Stargell was found guilty of aggravated murder last week.
He killed Tommy Nickels, 54, and Nickels’ dog at the Quality One Electric on South Main Street in April 2012.
Stargell said he acted in self defense, but prosecutors and jurors disagreed.
The jury must now decide whether he will face the death penalty or spend the rest of his life in prison.
