Storm threat tracks north; Flash Flood Watch expires

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) – Most of the Miami Valley dodged the severe weather that threatened throughout the day and night Wednesday, with most of the activity tracking north of I-70.

For a time, a Tornado Watch was in effect for Auglaize, Butler, Champaign, Darke, Logan, Mercer, Miami, Montgomery, and Preble counties, but that expired at 9 p.m.

A Tornado Warning for Wayne County, Ind. was lifted at 10 p.m.

There were reports of heavy rain and strong winds throughout the night, and firefighters in Darke County were called out when a garage was apparently struck by lightning.

Flash Flood Watches in nearly every county in the 2 NEWS viewing area expired early Thursday morning.

“Rain will taper off Thursday morning, and as we dry out, cooler air will be spilling into the region,” said Storm Team 2 Meteorologist Jamie Jarosik. “Highs may not get out of the 60s over the weekend.”
