DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) — The Wright-Patterson Air Force Base is honoring those who lost their lives on September 11th, 2001.

The “Run for the Fallen” is a memorial run/walk at the flight line of The National Museum of the United States Air Force. Organizers for the run say more than 1,000 military and civilian personnel were on-hand for Thursday’s event.

Organizers say the run isn’t a race — participants will run a 3.5 mile course, or walk a 2 mile course in military formation.

Participants gathered at the starting line at 8 a.m. A moment of silence was held at 8:46 a.m., and the run/walk began shortly thereafter.
