TROY, Ohio (WDTN) – At least two local communities are vying to be America’s Best.

Frontier Communications has launched the “America’s Best Communities” competition.

Its aim is to find the cities and towns with the best ideas to re-energize their economies.

Frontier detailed the contest in Troy Wednesday and mayors from Troy and Trotwood were on hand to learn more about how they could win their cities millions.

“This competition taps into the competitive spirit of communities across southwest ohio and our nation by challenging them to dream big and improve lives,” said Bethany Yost, Frontier Communications Southwest Ohio.

It will be awhile before we know the winners.

Cities will get $4 million in seed money to develop growth and revitalization plans.

They will have three years to show how it worked.

Then in 2017, the top three cities will pick up an additional $6 million. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
