Deputy resigns in light of guilty plea

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio (WDTN) – A Clark County deputy resigned in light of a criminal conviction.

Matthew Kerns was on leave from the department, having pleaded guilty to an obstruction charge connected to a homicide investigation out of Urbana.

Kerns destroyed a letter written from a relative, Christopher Myers, who was charged with murder.

He pleaded guilty to obstructing official business.
