MORAINE, Ohio (WDTN) – Montgomery County will pay you cash for your old tires.
The county is holding its second Tire Buyback event Sunday, September 21.
It will be held at the Montgomery County Solid Waste District Transfer and Recycling Facility at 1001 Encrete Lane in Moraine from 11:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m.
Residents will get $2.00 for every scrap and used tire they bring in up to 10 tires.
“Last year’s event was a dramatic success,” said Montgomery County Commissioner Judy Dodge. “Paying residents to bring in used tires helped improve our community by reducing illegal dumping and reducing tire collection and clean-up costs to our municipalities.”
The collected tires will be shredded and recycled for use in items like playground mulch, landfill liner and other materials.
The event is open to all Montgomery County residents. You’ll need your ID.
Only passenger vehicle tires will be accepted, no farm, tractor over oversized tires will be accepted.
The buyback program is an award winning program. More than 15,000 tires were collected in 2013.
