DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) – Dayton Power and Light is dealing with a sizable outage right now in parts of the Miami Valley.

DP&L’s outage map indicates more than 3,000 customers were without power in Montgomery County as of 10:30 a.m.  As of 11:00 a.m., the number was down to a handful.

But, another thousand remained in the dark in Champaign County.  Crews are investigating what caused the Champaign County outage.  As of 3:00 p.m., only 67 were without power in Champaign County.

The Montgomery County outage was due to a squirrel that entered into the Englewood substation.  DP and L crews were able to quickly transfer power elsewhere to restore service.
