Businesses benefiting from new racino

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) – The benefits of a new racino in Dayton are slowly working their way to nearby businesses.

It is a welcome sight for one Needmore Road business that has seen some ups and downs.

“It’s been better,” said Todd Recher, co-owner of the Airway Billiards Bar and Grill. “We’ve seen an uptick in traffic. We’ve seen some of the employees from down there. We’ve seen some new faces.”

For 20 years, Todd Recher said he has seen his fair share of people come through the doors at the pool hall.

The customers started disappearing, however, when Delphi closed shop in the area of Needmore Road and Wagner Ford Road.

Recher said some new clientele having started visiting the billiards because of the new Hollywood Gaming racino.

“I think the effect of the racino that there will be additional investment in the area,” said Recher.

Other businesses in the area have been capturing some of the success brought by the racino.

The Ramada Inn on Wagner Ford Road recently renamed their restaurant to Trackside Bar and Grill. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
