COLUMBUS, Ohio (WDTN) – A man convicted after violently shaking his ex-girlfriend’s daughter was released from prison.
Terrance King III, 29, served seven years of an eight year term for felonious assault. He was released from Ross Correctional facility Monday morning.
His victim, Destiny Shepherd, suffered permanent brain damage after she was shaken by King in 2006. She was only a year old at the time.
Her mother, Randi, has been rallying for tougher sentences ever since. House Bill 349 is pending in the Ohio Statehouse. Destiny’s Law would toughen penalties for people convicted of a felony that caused permanent injury to a victim.
It would tack on five to ten years in prison time.
According to the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction, King must serve three years probation following release.
