Victim: Man threatens her and cat

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) — A man is in jail after a woman said he threatened her and was cruel to her cat.

Steve Owens, 51, was arrested for menacing and disorderly conduct.

Police were called to Boltin Street around 8:45 pm. Friday on reports of a disorderly subject.

Police met with the victim who said Owens was being offensive and using racial slurs. She said when she confronted him and asked him to stop using derogatory language, Owens grabbed one of her kittens by the neck and started shaking it. She said she was afraid he was going to kill the cat, which is when she called police.

The victim told police prior to that Owens had threatened her and her roommates as well as her animals.

Police reported when they took Owens into custody he was yelling profanities and kept smashing his head into the cruiser window. Officers said they warned him several times to stop. They eventually tased him.
