Woman’s apartment broken into

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) — A man is in jail after police say he broke into a woman’s apartment.

Dontay Henderson, 31, was arrested on charges of burglary.

Officers were called to the 300 block of south Gettysburg Avenue around 2:40 a.m. Saturday.

When officers arrived, they said Henderson ran into the apartment and the victim and her three children were outside crying and upset.

The victim told police Henderson came to her apartment and kicked in the door and was yelling profanities. She said she took her children upstairs to hide. Officers found the door heavily damaged and wood chips all over the apartment.

The victim said she and Henderson have a history together. Officers said Henderson did not have any belongings at her apartment.

Police reported that when they took Henderson into custody he stated “I was trying to fix things with my girl.” Police said he was also highly intoxicated and smelled of alcohol.

Henderson was booked into jail.
