WILMINGTON, Ohio (WDTN) – Nearly 1,000 cross country runners from 48 universities competed in the Jenna Strong Fall Classic at Wilmington College Friday evening.
It took the athletes along a scenic course.
The event is held in memory of Jenna Parlette, the Miamisburg runner who collapsed during a race last year and later died.
She ran for Wilmington.
Jenna’s mom spoke before the race, talking about her goal of building an indoor track on campus in Jenna’s honor.
She also gave all the runners an apple after the race, her daughter’s favorite fruit.
Lisa Parlette is currently raising money to make the dream of building that track a reality.
