DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) It’s now been one year since an 18 year old was gunned down in Dayton, and his grieving family is still waiting for answers.

A memorial now sits outside the place that Brandon Shells once called home.

In the early morning hours of Oct. 27, police found the teen’s body between two homes in the 200 block of Boyer Street in Dayton. It may have been the result of gunshots heard there the night before.

Now his mother is left with memories of the boy she called B.J., hoping for some answers.

“It’s painful. B.J. been with me my whole adult life,” said his mother, Crystal Shells. “Even though God has given me a peace it will really help us feel better about what happened if someone will talk about whatever they know about his death and who may have done this to him.”

“We’re hoping that anyone with information will call Crime Stoppers at 222-7867,” said Det. Cayce Cantrell. “Family needs closure. If you’d heard anything please come forward and talk to detectives.”
