HUBER HEIGHTS, Ohio (WDTN) – The man who police say wrecked a van into a Huber Heights pond is in police custody.

The U.S. Marshals SOFAST Task Force found Michael Mills Tuesday morning at a home on Webster Street in Dayton.

He was pulled from the van along Bellefontaine Road October 14 and removed to the hospital.

Investigators say he was not under arrest at the time, so he walked out of the hospital a free man.

Mills and two other men are accused of prowling around the Huber Heights neighborhood where the crash happened. Police confirmed that a generator and an ATV found inside the van were stolen from a nearby garage.

SOFAST was actually looking for another fugitive when they found Mills.

They were looking for James Leach, 19, at the Webster Street home. He is wanted on a charge of intimidation of a witness. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
