LIMA, Ohio (AP) – One of three inmates captured outside an Ohio prison has pleaded not guilty to an escape charge.
Prosecutors are still looking into whether charges will be filed against the two others, including convicted Ohio high school shooter T.J. Lane.
Clifford Opperud appeared in an Allen County court Friday where he entered a not guilty plea. A call to his attorney on Friday was not answered.
Authorities say that Opperud, 20-year-old Chardon High School shooter T.J. Lane and another inmate serving a life sentence escaped a prison in Lima on Sept. 11 by scaling a fence in a recreation yard.
All three were caught in the area within hours.
Opperud is serving time for robbery, burglary and kidnapping. Lane is serving life in prison for killing three students in 2012.
