Semi driver runs stop sign, 3 taken to hospital

CHAMPAIGN COUNTY, Ohio (WDTN) – An accident on US 68 in Champaign County sent three people to the hospital Tuesday morning.

According to police, a semi-truck heading eastbound on Dallas Road ran a stop sign and jack-knifed into a pickup truck.

The semi driver, Gary Baker, 60, of Springfield, is in good condition at Miami Valley Hospital.

The pickup driver, Charles Godwin, 40, of West Liberty, was flown to Miami Valley Hospital via CareFlight.  He is listed in serious condition.

A third driver, Matthew Vogel, 21, of West Liberty, was treated and released from Springfield Regional Hospital.

Champaign County Sheriff Matthew Melvin commended motorists who stopped to assist the victims before rescuers arrived.
