COVINGTON, Ohio (PDC/WDTN) – An apparent domestic situation in Covington led to some tense moments for Covington officers Wednesday night.
Officers from Covington were dispatched to a reported domestic in the 100 block of East Broadway around 10:15.
Officer Bubeck was the first officer on the scene. “When I arrived there was a lot of commotion,” said Bubeck, “When I came through the bedroom door, the suspect had the gun to his head. The wife had her arms around the gun as well, trying to take it from him. I was able to take the suspect down. I was able to disarm him and get him detained.”
During the initial moments, a “signal 99” was called and additional units from the Miami County Sheriff’s Department responded to back-up and assist.
Sgt. Chris Bobb said that most of the responding county units were able to slow to a normal response within a short time as Officer Bubeck reported that he had control of the suspect and possession of the weapon.
Bubeck said, “I called for a squad (for the suspect) and we sent him out for a mental evaluation and he will be charged accordingly.”
There were no injuries in the incident.
