TREMONT CITY, Ohio (WDTN) – Firefighters from four departments helped battle a fire inside a building that houses a post office.

The fire was reported around 2:00 a.m. on Wednesday at 3 W. Main Street in Tremont City.

The German Township fire chief tells 2 NEWS the fire started on the second floor of the building, where there are vacant apartments.

The post office is on the first floor and suffered mostly water damage.

We’ve learned the mail that was inside the facility is being moved to another location. It’s unclear how long the post office will be closed.

Crews from Moorefield, Pike and Springfield Townships helped fight the flames. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
