VANDALIA, Ohio (WDTN) – The woman who pleaded guilty to taking drugs in front of her daughter was sentenced Thursday.

Melissa Banister will spend 180 days in jail for getting high at a Dairy Queen while the 3-year-old girl was with her. She already served 15 days.

The court also ordered her into an in-patient treatment program. She cannot have contact with her daughter until treatment is complete.

This is the same child that police say was taken by her father from a Huber Heights home on October 25.

The incident triggered an Amber Alert.

Garland Banister is in the Montgomery County Jail awaiting his next court appearance.

The 3-year-old girl is in the custody of her grandparents.
