CENTERVILLE, Ohio (WDTN) — One of the area’s most highly anticipated store openings is now less than a week away.
The day can’t come soon enough for some.
Katie Hutchison is an expert at building sandwiches at Subway, but it’s the Costco construction across the street that could be the tastiest treat yet.
“It’s been super exciting,” Hutchison says. “You get to watch everyday something new coming in and growing.”
Stores like Subway are counting on the customers that Costco is expected to bring when it opens in a week.
We wanted to know what it will do for the stores’ bottom line.
“The sky’s the limit,” Hutchison says. “Anything can happen.”
Those with Costco say they have finished hiring for the store’s opening. They’ll start with 191 employees.
Even though the store isn’t open yet, you can go there now to buy a membership.
Officials say they’ll be more lenient on memberships when the store first opens but eventually you’ll need one to shop there.
So far they’re selling a few hundred memberships a day.
Already businesses like Subway are anticipating large crowds for the grand opening.
“We’re going to have a sub man out to let people know we’re here too across the street for any of their needs,” Hutchison says.
Road crews are rushing to finish the work widening Feedwire Road in front of one of the Costco entrances before the store’s grand opening.
