SOUTH CHARLESTON, Ohio (WDTN) – Sometimes the true sign of prosperity is in a giant pile of corn.

These photos came to WDTN.com via ReportIt, so we did some checking about why the corn is sitting outside of the Trupointe grain elevator business in South Charleston.

Fact is, all the silos are overflowing, full of corn.

Grain Manager Dan Roncolato says there is about 50,000 bushels of corn piled up outside waiting for a train car to come pick it up and send it on its way.

He says it is not that unusual to store corn outside temporarily. He say his office has piled as much as one million bushels of corn outside in the past.

What’s more, Roncolato says the cold weather keeps the corn in good shape and ready to use down the line. Most of the corn will be used for feed.

He expects that train to come rolling down the tracks in about three weeks time.
