DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) — Dayton police are investigating after a man reportedly attacks his ex-girlfriend.
Officers were called to the 1300 block of Steiner Avenue around 11:45 p.m. Saturday.
The victim told police she was upstairs sleeping when her her ex-boyfriend came into her room, punched her, and tried to choke her. She said when she woke up, she tried to defend herself but he punched her several more times.
When she asked him why he attacked her, he said because another man was texting her.
Brandon Bumpers, 28, was arrested on charges of assault.
Police said the suspect was very uncooperative when he was being placed in handcuffs and yelled at officers.
The victim told police she used to date Bumpers for about two years but they broke up a couple months ago. She said he does not live at her address.
The victim refused medical treatment.
Bumpers is expected in court Monday.
