Veterans remembering the true cost of freedom

LEBANON, Ohio (WDTN) – Veterans and their families are remembering the cost it takes to protect our country.

Servicemen and women who serve or have served met at Miami Valley Gaming Sunday.

The message was short but the truth was real. Freedom is not free.

Concerned Veterans for America hosted the event wanting people to remember the true cost of freedom as Veterans Day approaches.

“You can often times forget how much was done on the path of maintaining those freedoms and the liberties that America has carved out from generation to generation,” said Jason Beardsley with Concerned Veterans for America. “Every once in a while, it’s appropriate to just slow down, take a little time out, pause and thank those veterans who have either sacrficed all or some or at least were willing to.”

Students from schools in Southwest Ohio wrote essays and drew artwork showing their appreciation to the men and women who serve our country.

The emcee of the event was Nick Clooney, father of actor George Clooney.
