OVI checkpoint tonight in Montgomery County

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Ohio (WDTN) – An OVI checkpoint is in progress in Montgomery County.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol along with the Vandalia and Butler Township police departments are conducting the effort on U.S. 40 in the City of Vandalia.

The checkpoint started at 8 p.m. and will be in effect until midnight.

Officers call the event a ‘low manpower’ checkpoint.  

It is funded by fines from impaired drivers and other federal funding.

Nearby saturation patrols will also be looking for impaired drivers.
