DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) – A dog food label quick change and a pair of panty hose landed a woman in jail.

Dayton police say in a report that they responded to the Kroger store on Smithville Road to investigate a shoplifting complaint.

The report says the suspect, Sarah Crabtree, 28, not only stole a pair of panty hose and stuffed them in her purse, but tried to pull off an elaborate dog food heist.

Loss prevention officers told police that they saw her cut the UPC code off a small bag of dog food after putting a larger, more expensive bag in her shopping cart.

Police stopped the suspect after she used the UPC code from the smaller bag to check out.

Crabtree was arrested and charged with theft. She was then taken to jail.
