DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) — A 90-year-old man is behind bars after he’s accused of threatening officers while they were responding to another call.
Robert Ryan, 90, was arrested for menacing, disorderly conduct, obstructing official business, and failing to disclose information.
Police were originally called to the 1800 block of North Main Street after 8:30 p.m. Saturday when RTA reported three to four juveniles were at the bus stop hitting passing buses.
When officers arrived on scene, they only found two women along with Ryan on the bus stop bench. Police said one of the women had an open Old English Beer and attempted to hide it from them. According to officers, when they approached to confront her about it, Ryan began yelling and threatened officers.
Police asked Ryan and the woman for their identification at which officials said Ryan refused to provide his information. When they told him that not providing identification to police is an arrestable offense, he reportedly told them, “I don’t care. You guys have a nice jail.”
According to officials, Ryan continued to be uncooperative and combative and was therefore taken into custody. Officers said Ryan continued to threaten them saying, “I’m military trained and can kill you without weapons. You just made yourself a target.”
Ryan was booked into jail.
The woman was issued a citation for having an open container.
