Rebecca Seagraves teamed up with St. Vincent de Paul and the Vandalia VFW for a donation drive Sunday.

All of the items collected go to homeless shelters in the area helping those in need.

The large trailer was more than half full as of late Sunday afternoon.

Seagraves said it’s been a great turnout. She said people started dropping items off at noon, two hours before the drive was scheduled to begin.

“There’s such a stigma about homelessness,” said Seagraves. “They don’t realize that over 60% are veterans and there are over 100 kids that are in shelters day to day. And I just really wanted to get it out there that there is stuff that we can do.”

The drive was held at VFW Post 9582 located at 4170 Springfield Road.
