DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) — Dayton Police said they discovered a pair of squatters along with drugs inside a vacant garage.

Police received an anonymous complaint that two people were living in the garage on Bierce Avenue behind a church.

When officers arrived Saturday after 8 p.m., they found a man and woman and ordered them outside. According to the report, before coming out of the garage the woman told police “Let me put down my Playboy.”

The two told police they had been staying there at least a week and they had permission to be in the garage from the owner of the residence. The woman told officers that they would probably find drugs inside the garage because she didn’t know who else had been staying there.

Officers found an uncapped syringe, heroin, and a glass crack pipe. Both people said there was a lot of garbage and trash in the garage but none of it belonged to them.

Police were not able to contact the owner of the vacant property.

Amy Anderson, 37, was arrested on heroin possession and possession of drug abuse instruments. Leland Johnson, 33, was arrested on charges of drug paraphernalia.

Both were booked into jail.
