Semi slams into trees injuring driver

CHAMPAIGN COUNTY, Ohio (WDTN) — Deputies are investigating after a semi crashes into a treeline seriously injuring the driver.

The Champaign County Sheriff’s Office responded to the 13000 block of State Route 29 West before 4:30 a.m. Sunday.

According to deputies, a 2015 white Freightliner Cascadia tractor and trailer driven by 27-year-old Mohamed Hussein Mohamed failed to negotiate a curve and drove off the road. The semi slammed through a fence and crashed head on into a group of trees.

The passenger, 26-year-old Mohamed Muhumed Gedi pulled the driver from the wreckage.

Medics treated both men. The driver was airlifted to Miami Valley Hospital.

As of 2 p.m. the driver’s medical condition is listed as serious.
