DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) – The witness to a crash in Dayton Wednesday morning says “someone was looking out for the victims.”

The crash happened on North Main Street north of Interstate 75. It was near the intersection of Locust Street.

Police say the pickup driver lost control, veered onto the sidewalk bumping a man walking there and taking down a tree.

Neither the driver or the pedestrian were seriously hurt, but they were taken to the hospital for treatment.

Police say the driver of the pickup was cited for failure to control his truck.

The crash happened around 7:45 a.m. in front of the Dayton Cash Register Company and next door to a church.

A witness at the church told 2 NEWS someone was watching over the victims “who are blessed this Thanksgiving. Someone was looking out for them.”

A tree trimmer was called in to remove the tree. The road was closed for about an hour, but has since reopened.
