DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) — It’s the night much of Dayton looks to as the start of the Christmas Season! Grande Illumination at Courthouse Square brought families together for the tree lighting ceremony on Friday night. The Dayton Children’s Parade to follow.
“I just come down here every year. I like to see the Christmas tree up up and I like the atmosphere and just to know we’re bringing in the season the right way” said Richard Gilbertson, a Dayton resident.
“It’s really enlightening coming to this event you’ll see all kinds of different people and different ages. And a lot of people it’s a tradition, it’s a family tradition because it’s been going on for so long so I think that’s really heartwarming when you hear people that have done this with their kids, grand-kids and keep it going” said Emily Broughton, special events organizer.
The Tyke’s Shop opens for the season at 3 p.m. Once again, you’ll find it at the Schuster Center Wintergarten near the Ludlow Street entrance.
