DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) — Police said they caught a suspect in a Dayton stabbing red-handed.
Officers were called to the 2700 block of Edison Avenue Friday after 6:30 p.m.
The victim told police he was stabbed in the living room of the suspect’s home when he was trying to settle a debt. He said an argument over money ensued and the suspect stabbed him in the arm.
Another man drove the victim to Miami Valley Hospital to be treated for his wound.
Officers said when they knocked on the suspect’s door, he opened the door and was holding a large steak knife in his left hand. They later determined the knife was the same one used in the stabbing.
Shane Hopkins, 51, was arrested on felonious assault charges. He was taken to jail. Police reported he was also highly intoxicated. Hopkins is expected to appear in court Monday.
