Distracting suspects eye your wallet

BEAVERCREEK, Ohio (WDTN) – Beavercreek police say a distracting group of theft suspects scoured a store looking for wallets to steal.

Surveillance video captured a couple of the five suspects involved.

Police say the group distracted one customer then swiped her wallet from her purse. They then pulled the same tactics to steal another woman’s wallet from her purse.

The five suspects then split up and left the store.

Police say two of the suspects later used one victim’s credit card at the nearby Best Buy store to rack up $1,300 in photography equipment.

The suspects are described as follows:

  • White female 30-40, brown hair, black coat, jeans, and sunglasses
  • White male, gray and white hoodie
  • White male, 30-40, brown hair, black coat, jeans and gray ball cap
  • White female, gray ball cap, black coat, red shoes, black stretch pants
  • White male, black coat, black hair (bald on top), mustache and plaid shirt

Call Beavercreek police at 937-426-1225 if you have any information about the crimes.

In the meantime, police urge you keep close control of your personal property while shopping. Don’t leave your purse sitting along in a shopping cart and keep them closed.
