DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) – A Dayton neighborhood was under siege Tuesday morning.
The FBI, DEA and ATF targeted six houses in the Westwood neighborhood, raiding them with guns drawn. Officers were conducting federal search warrants looking for evidence of drug trafficking, heroin in particular.
The SWAT team was involved in one raid at 101 North Ardmore Avenue. Flash grenades could be heard as the raid went down.
The other addresses searched were 35 Lorenz Avenue, 45 North Marion Street and 144 North Ardmore Avenue. One house on Anthem Street and another on Alcott Avenue were also raided.
A dog was shot by officers at 144 North Ardmore Avenue. 2 NEWS captured the sound of gunfire on video. Another dog and two puppies were removed by animal resource officers.
Dayton police say the investigation is the result of an investigation more than a year in the making. They say the investigation is not over yet. Several people were taken into custody for questioning, but no arrests so far.
Some drugs, paraphernalia and weapons were confiscated.
