DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) – A typical Saturday night in the Oregon District with people packing the bars, but tonight most of them were in Santa outfits.

“People come out and have a great time and donate a lot of stuff it’s great” said Corporal Logan Shepherd with the United States Marine Corps.

The holiday spirit is alive in downtown Dayton tonight and it’s all for a good cause, the annual Toys for Tots Santa pub crawl.

This year is Matthew Miller’s first time out for the Santa Pub Crawl.

“I mostly came out for the pubs, to try some holiday beers, but really donating for the kids. It’s really great” said Matthew Miller, Dayton resident.

The Dayton Marine Toys for Tots organization filled three vans with toys before 10:00 p.m. and we’re preparing for more donations.

“The reserves don’t do as much as active duty so it’s nice for us to give back and help out with local families in need” said Shepherd.

“It’s fabulous love seeing the marines out here, it’s a great time” said Miller.

The Toys For Tots donations will continue throughout the night until 1:00 a.m. at Ned Pepper’s in the Oregon District.
