XENIA, Ohio (WDTN) – Santa’s four-legged helpers are getting a chance to tell him what they want for Christmas this year.
Dogs of every breed and every size were welcomed to James Ranch Park in Xenia Sunday afternoon for Canine Christmas. It gave families and their pets a chance to get a picture with Santa and Mrs. Claus.
“This is a blast,” said Robin Gregory with Greene County Parks and Trails. “I love to see the different breeds, the dogs, and it’s fun to see the struggles with Mr. and Mrs. Claus.”
Greene County Parks and Trails hosted the event inside the brick home on site despite a recent act of vandalism.
Vandals struck James Ranch Park last week destroying thousands of dollars worth lights, decorations, and equipment. The department had to cancel the weekend’s outdoor activities at the park but was able to continue events inside the home.
Dog owners crowded outside the park hoping to get a chance to create new memories with their pets.
“People absolutely love their dogs,” said Gregory.
Admission to Canine Christmas was free but donations were accepted. Proceeds benefit the Scout Dog Park which is the only public dog park in Greene County.
