Robbery suspect thanks clerk before fleeing

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) — A suspect robs a Family Video and thanks the clerk before fleeing the store.

Officers met with two employees at the Family Video located at 3604 North Main Street around 10:30 p.m. Friday.

Police said the suspect walked into the store and walked around before waiting in line. The man then reportedly walked up to the register and asked if the store had the new Thor movie. The employee looked it up and told him they only had it on Blu-ray, and the man said that would be fine. When the clerk went to rang the man up, he gave her two telephone numbers, neither of which was on file. He told the worker he needed to make a call to get the phone number for the account.

The clerk said a short time later, he returned to the counter and demanded she open the drawer. She said he had his hands in his pockets as to indicate he had a weapon. The clerk told police the suspect got away with all of the $20 and $50 dollar bills in her drawer. She said he thanked her and then fled from the store.

The suspect is described as a white male in his 30s, 5’09”, 150 lbs., with a short beard, wearing blue jeans, a light tan jacket, black hood, and black tennis shoes.
