Holidays equal extra patrols on the road

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) – Local and state law enforcement will be out in force over the Christmas and New Year holidays to keep drivers safe.

“Our goal is to decrease chances of any unnecessary tragedies occurring on our roadways this Christmas/New Year’s Season” said Montgomery County OVI Coordinator Carlene Maynes. “During the Holidays, people are out shopping, gathering with family and friends for dinner and parties, and we have increased traffic on the roadways.”

One way to plan ahead in Montgomery County is to have the ArriveSafe phone number handy. It is 449-9999.

The Montgomery County Prosecutor’s Officer sponsors the program that offers a free cab ride home to anyone who’s had too much to drink.

The rides are available from noon Wednesday, December 24 to 6:00 a.m. Friday, December 26.

They will be available again from Noon Wednesday, December 31 to 6:00 a.m. Friday, January 2.

Always choose a designated driver and call police should you see someone driving erratically.
