DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) – Two children were snug in their beds when gunfire erupted.

Dayton police responded to 1824 Ravenwood Avenue early Monday morning after getting a call about shots fired.

Their report indicates that a mom and her three kids were home when they heard the shots.

They found that the bullet traveled through the front door, a living room wall then lodged into a basement wall.

The mom and one daughter were watching television at the time. The two other children were asleep in their beds.

The police report went on the say that the one child saw a black truck leave the scene, but could not provide a description of the suspect.

Police also found several bullet casings on the ground outside.

The investigation is underway.
