DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) – Tonight one Piqua family has the ultimate Christmas gift in their arms….

The Giesiges welcomed a new baby boy into their family.

“I first woke up to my wife saying “its time” said Garrett Giesige, the babys’ father.

“4:48 this morning after 5 short hours of labor” said Ashley Giesige, mother who gave birth on Christmas morning.

Making baby JD Gieseige the first Christmas newborn at Miami Valley hospital.

“I’m happy everyone is healthy and he’s here and hopefully he enjoys having a Christmas birthday. Its a miracle to bring a baby into the world and to share with Jesus too” said Ashley.

Ashley and her husband Garrett have two other little boys, ages 2 and 5 who are spending Christmas at home waiting for their new brother… who was eager to come into this world and had mom and dad rushing to get to the hospital.

“It was fast, we made good time, but it was safe” explained Garrett.

The 10 pound 7 ounce, 22 inch long bundle of joy is making Christmas 2014 one the Giesige family will never forget.

‘We usually wake up with the boys and open their presents and stockings. Then we go to my moms and have our small Christmas and then our extended family comes over” said Ashley.

A tradition that will now include birthday celebrations as well…

“He’s going to have to share Christmas with his birthday but we will make it fair” said Garrett.

The couple jokes that with their newest addition, they’re raising a football team…

“The other two are 9 pounders, ha so I was really surprised he was this big” said Ashley.

Miami Valley hospitals Berry Center delivered 7 babies today, they say that number could go up as the night goes on.
