KETTERING, Ohio (WDTN) — A bench press challenge in Kettering was designed to help grant wishes for the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

Sears Hardware in Kettering teamed up with Premier Fitness in Kettering for a weight lifting challenge held Saturday.

All of the proceeds go to the Make-A-Wish Foundation. The goal was to help create special memories for kids in our area and their families dealing with difficult medical situations.

Sears said it’s raised more than $10,000 dollars so far, which is enough to grant one wish. Now they’re working on a second.

“This [shirt] is representing a kid,” said organizers Kassandra Strahler and Ryan Strahler. “And he’s holding weight above his ahead. Basically what this stands for is you’ve got a kid with a really heavy load, something he’s got to face and overcome. And that’s what this is. That’s what this is all about. It’s the holiday season and it’s something that would be great to get to donate to be able to grant a wish for a kid that’s really in need of something to raise his spirits.”

If you want to make a donation to the Weights For a Wish campaign you can drop it off at Sears on East Dorothy Lane in Kettering through December 31st.
