Springboro student dies after car accident

SPRINGBORO, Ohio (WDTN) – A Springboro senior died at Kettering Medical Center over the weekend.

According to the Montgomery County Coroner’s office, Caleb Baker, 18, died Sunday after a Friday afternoon car accident.

The Springboro Police Department was initially called out to Clearcreek-Franklin Rd and Tamarack Trail at 2:47 on Friday to a car down in the ditch and one passenger with injury.

According to the incident report, Baker lost control of his car and went off the roadway to the west and struck a mailbox. The car then went airborne and crashed into a creek bed and tree line.

The report said Baker had a bloody head injury but refused transport to the hospital at that time.

It also says the road department was notified to add salt to that intersection.

The final accident report is still being investigated.

A memorial fund website says Baker was a student at Springboro.
