Dayton man formally charged with shooting wife

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) – A Dayton man is now formally charged, accused of shooting his wife.

A Montgomery County grand jury indicted Mark Derrick, 53, on two counts of felonious assault, two counts of aggravated robbery and a count of domestic violence.

Prosecutors accuse Derrick of shooting his wife in the head on January 5.

They say he has a history of violence against his wife. He was convicted once before in 2010.

He also has a conviction for gross sexual imposition of a child in 2005 and a drug possession conviction in 2007.

Derrick is being held in the Montgomery County Jail on $250,000 bond. He is set to be arraigned January 22.
