Locals to ‘represent’ at State of the Union

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) – There will be several local residents representing the Miami Valley at Tuesday night’s State of the Union address.

U.S. Speaker and West Chester Congressman John Boehner invited sever families, business owners and farmers who represent Boehner’s vision for strengthening the economy.

Amoung them is Aaron and Betsy Ward. They own the A&B Coffee & Cake Company in Greenville.

Dr. Jo Blondin, President of Clark State Community College will also be there as will Camden business owners Rodney and Gail Burger. They own Dream Acres Farm which operates a corn maze every year.

Surgeon Dr. Christopher Grove of Troy will see President Obama’s speech live, as will Springfield’s Jamie McGregor. McGregor is Vice President of Business Development for McGregor Metalworking.

“As I’ve said all along, the five points didn’t come from Washington. They came from talking to real people and getting a better idea of what’s on people’s minds,” Boehner said. “My guests from Ohio represent those very families, small businesses, and farmers, and the American people can expect the new American Congress to focus on the priorities that these Ohioans are highlighting with their stories.”

Bill Elder, A Wright State University Boonshoft School of Medicine student will attend as a guest of First Lady Michelle Obama.
