DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) – A Dayton community policing unit chased down a drug suspect Wednesday.
Officers say they were monitoring a car that they received several complaints about claiming it was being used to sell drugs in the neighborhood.
The Community Problem Response Team approached a man heading for that car and he ran from them.
They arrested the suspect after a short foot chase and confiscated some heroin and cash.
The response team is designed to investigate long-term neighborhood issues such as continuing drug activity. Police say the community is happy to see officers responding to their complaints.
“We try to work with the community, knock on doors, talk to neighbors when they make complaints, so they can see we’re addressing their complaints each time,” said Sgt. John Riegel, Dayton Police Department.
Police towed the car. The suspect was taken to jail on a drug trafficking charge.
Police urge you to call #222-STOP with your complaints and the task force will respond.
