DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) – A teenager is now charged in connection to a shooting incident at the Dayton Mall in December 2014.
The Montgomery County Prosecutor’s Office says a 16-year-old Middletown teen is charged with involuntary manslaughter and robbery.
They say evidence shows he actively participated in the attempted robbery of a shopper who just bought a popular pair of athletic shoes.
Police say another teen involved, Jawaad Jabbar, 16, had a gun at the time. The shopper pulled a weapon that he legally carried and shot Jabbar, who later died.
Prosecutors did not file charges against the shopper who carried a Concealed Carry Permit.
Ohio law says any person involved in a robbery that results in a death can be charged for the death.
A probable cause hearing will be held January 27 to determine whether the teen will be transferred to adult court.
