XENIA, Ohio (WDTN) – A longtime business in Xenia is closing its doors.
The Xenia Gazette reports that Ann’s Hallmark in the Xenia Towne Square will close for good on January 25.
The store owner, Dave Adams, told the Xenia Gazette, “Like everything else, the economics came down to it,” Adams said. “With our slumping sales we couldn’t justify (staying open). That center when we moved into it, there was the Rite-Aid drug store, a Fulmer store and a Kmart. All three of them have left.”
2 NEWS spoke with Xenia City Manager Brent Merriman when he took the helm in February 2014.
He said the real challenge for Xenia is to attract grocery and retail stores to downtown to replace stores like Kmart.
