SANTA CLARA, California (WDTN) – An Oakwood High School (Dayton, Ohio suburb) graduate is facing several felonies connected to a recent sexual assault at Stanford University.
Brock Turner, 19, was a freshman swimmer at Stanford.
The university says Turner voluntarily withdrew following his arrest and is no longer allowed on campus.
The Santa Clara Prosecutor’s Office said Tuesday Turner faces five felony charges, including rape of an unconscious and intoxicated woman.
It stems from an incident on January 18th.
Two bicyclists told police they saw Turner assaulting a woman on campus. They said Turner ran away, but they chased him down and held him until police arrived.
Authorities said the alleged victim is not a Stanford student.
Turner posted $150,000 bail. He is due in court for an arraignment on Monday, Feb. 2.
Turner graduated from Oakwood High School in suburban Dayton last year. He was a state champion in the 500 meter freestyle, posting records at Oakwood, but also at the state level.
