DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) – The Xenia mother who went missing along with her two children has been found.
2 NEWS heard from a sister of Cindy Gordon who tells us she was located in Dayton with a man who says he had no idea Gordon was listed as a missing person. The children are fine. Their mother is now talking with police about what happened.
Xenia Police stated Gordon left her East Richard Drive home January 19 with a new boyfriend she had just met. Officers said she moved in with him and did not let any of her friends and family know she was leaving. Investigators said she was staying at the new boyfriend’s apartment by themselves for the week. Gordon told police she did not have any communication devices with her to keep in touch with family and friends. It wasn’t until Wednesday that he became aware that they were reported missing and he called Xenia Police.
Her children James, 5, and Kali, 8, were dressed in pajamas and were carrying school book bags at the time when they went missing.
Her family reported her missing on January 26. Police say they immediately sent out word to try and find Gordon and the children.
Gordon’s family says they waited to report their loved one’s disappearance as she has left for several days before. The difference this time, they say, is that she told no one where is was going. They say she usually calls or is visible on social media. The first contact with Gordon came during a phone call Wednesday afternoon.
Police say the circumstances behind her disappearance do seem unusual, especially with children involved.
2 NEWS has calls into Xenia Police about where the investigation stands into why Gordon disappeared in the first place.
