DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) – The head of the Dayton International Airport is flying out of town.

Director Terry Slaybaugh announced his resignation to accept a position as Director of Aviation at General Mitchell International Airport in Milwaukee.

“The people I have worked and met through the City are some of the finest people I have had the opportunity to meet. I am looking forward to this next challenge in my career and wish the City of Dayton the very best,” said Slaybaugh.

Slaybaugh was named Dayton’s director in March 2011. He oversaw a major renovation at the airport during his tenure.

“When you have a talented workforce, others are going to take notice,” said City Manager Warren Price. “Terry has done a good job for us here and I believe his achievements were a major factor in his selection by Milwaukee. I wish him well.”

A national search will begin to find Slaybaugh’s successor. Regina Holman will serve as interim director in the meantime.
